7. West Wittering, West Sussex

West Wittering is my favourite local beach. Many a happy day having been spent here when my boys were young 🙂
The beach area was bought by a group of locals in 1952 when Billy Butlin was showing an interest in acquiring the land – well done those residents (but what an amazing spot for a holiday camp!!)
With views to the north of the stunning South Downs and to the south of the Isle of Wight, backed by dunes and with a vast expanse of safe, soft, gently shelving sands there is always something going on here.
Surfing, wind-surfing, kite-surfing, body boarding, horse-riding – we even saw a couple of cyclists navigating along the water’s edge 🙂
For a £7 per day parking charge (£8.50 at weekends) you have access to this blue flag beach, toilets, a café, beach shop (selling mainly buckets & spades and body boards). There are surf schools and beach huts.
