Questions:- (This review is from the point of view of motorhomers driving a Bessacarr 769 tag axle – 8.56m)
What are the pitches like?
Large grass pitches. Very generously sized. Not too easy to level up. Some hard standings
Is there water on each pitch?
No, but several water taps available – probably best to fill up before pitching up though
What is the electric like?
Excellent, 16amp. Absolutely no problems
Drainage?
Yes – in front of the reception building
What’s the site access like?
Excellent access from the main road. It is the entrance for Hudson’s Fields and the rugby club. Follow the road around to the right
What are the Sanitary facilities like?
2 facilities blocks. We can’t comment on the facilities as Camping and Caravan Club (together with Caravan Club (who later reneged on the deal) and Haven) decided not to open the facilities even though it was permitted by Government Guidance from 12th April (advice changed on 8th April) This was VERY disappointing (but NOT the warden’s fault of course)
Toilets: I’m sure they are clean and tidy!
Toilet paper provided? I’m sure it is Showers: Unable to comment, or even see as these were still locked, but I’m sure they were perfectly acceptable
What other facilities are there?
Bins (including recycling) and CWD (x 2 – at least)
Dishwashing area
Laundry
Reception hut with plentiful leaflets
Bordering Hudson’s Fields where rugby / football and several other sports are practiced. Plenty of space for children to run around in safety
Motorhome service area
Several onsite wardens. Very friendly and approachable
Is there any internet; if so how much and how good?
Yes, free wi-fi. For browsing, not streaming
Excellent
How much is it?
We paid £22.40 per night including electric.
What’s the area like?
Lovely area. Riverside walk into Salisbury (roughly 2 miles). Old Sarum is just across the Hudson Fields – you can walk around the hill and visit the original cathedral site (with remains in place) without any payment, or pay (if not an English Heritage member) to go inside the old hillfort. 1 pub, a Harvester, within easy walking distance – max 10 mins
There is bus-stop on the main road, or on the other road behind the site (Stratford sub Castle) if you don’t fancy walking into Salisbury.
Yes we will.
The fact that the toilets weren’t open when they were allowed to be
Some of the pitches were a little too slopey and difficult to level up
We hated:-
Nothing
Moving On:
We headed home 😦
