Imaginative Town & Village Signs of England

As we have been touring around England, so far from Portsmouth to the Yorkshire coast, we have been delighted to see unique town and village signs.  I’m sure the locals think we’re a little strange when we screech to a stop and I jump out to take a photo!

The signs are clearly a fairly new initiative – meaning they’re not historic, although they do mostly depict the history of the town or village.  Either way, I think it’s a really lovely new practice and would love to see more places in the UK adopting it 🙂

We missed at least as many as we got – mostly because it wasn’t safe to stop, or we were too late or we just wanted to get back to the van!

Anyway, now we’re in the East Riding of Yorkshire we find that, although many towns and villages do have their own unique sign, they’re a little boring – nice enough, but boring.  Sadly.  Here they are brick flower boxes with the town name on the raised oval bit above the flowers.  Like I say, nice enough – but not what we had been used to on our journey so far.

So I thought it was time to share these with you!  I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed collecting them 🙂

Which is your favourite??!!
