A short sojourn on the East Coast on our way to Yorkshire and Northumberland, with a brief detour to Silverstone for the 2017 British Grand Prix.
Rutland Water is wonderful, particularly if you’re looking for an active break – it has a really interesting history as well.
When we went to the Grand Prix we took the opportunity to visit the town where Calv was born, Rushden, and also found a couple of little gems, such as Higham Ferrers, on our way back to Whittlebury where we were staying.
The Lincolnshire coast really surprised us, particularly the beaches – we really liked Cleethorpes and the beach at Anderby Creek is lovely 🙂
Perhaps don’t both with Grimsby, but we found Woodhall Spa (where the Kinema in the Woods is located) to be absolutely delightful. This is near to Tattershall and it’s castle.
We also took the opportunity to visit relatives and a trip to Caythorpe brought back many happy childhoold memories for me 🙂
Lincoln is also a must see – particularly the Castle, the 3 towered cathedral and Steep Hill. The Mediaeval Bishop’s Palace is an English Heritage property (it’s closed on Tuesdays though – guess when we visited?!)
