Questions:-  (This review is from the point of view of motorhomers driving a Bessacarr E769 tag axle – 8.56m)

What are the pitches like?

Large pitches with all facilities.  You are asked to park a certain way (with your door facing into your pitch, giving you plenty of privacy).  Where you park has protection from the ground getting wet (i.e. very unlikely you would get stuck)

Is there water on each pitch?

Yes

What is the electric like?

Very good – no issues at all

Drainage?

Yes – separate service area

What’s the site access like?

Good – we arrived whilst the reception was closed between 12noon and 1pm, and managed to turn round and park just past the entrance.  Only room for 1 van to do this though.

What are the Sanitary facilities like?

Toilets:                                Good

Toilet paper provided? Yes                                                                                              Showers:                            Looked good, but we used our own facilities

What other facilities are there?

Bins etc.

Laundry

Dish washing and laundry sinks

Children’s play area

Cafe

S4S shows that there is a swimming pool, but we couldn’t find it (and it’s not a big site…)

Is there any internet; if so how much and how good?

I don’t remember having any problems with our signal

How welcoming are they at reception and staff in general?

The welcome was a little frosty, but perfectly efficient

How much is it?

We paid 25E per night

What’s the area like?

Easy access to the cycle path (although we didn’t use it).  Several eateries close by – we went in the Asian restaurant across the road and were very happy with our meal (and the company of a British family that had just arrived like us!)

Bus stops on the main road within a couple of minutes of the entrance to the site

Suitable for 5th Wheel Vans?

Possibly – the pitches would appear to be big enough

More detail:

The Good:-

The proximity to Luxemburg city centre

The proximity to the park

Good eating opportunities very close by

What could be improved:

The welcome from the receptionist

 We really didn’t like:

This is a difficult one because this is a nice comfortable site with good facilities and nice pitches.  However, we left after just 1 night (we had intended to stay 2) as I felt there just wasn’t any ‘soul’ to it, and didn’t want to stay 😦

I didn’t even take a photo of our pitch on site!

This is likely just me (although it’s only happened a couple of times in the hundreds of sites we have used over the years)

Moving On:

We headed to the Park & Ride at nearby Kockelscheuer.  We used the free bus to visit the city centre, which was very convenient.

However, in the end we decided against staying in the Park & Ride for the night, and moved on to Arlon in Belgium after our day in the city.

Reasons? When we got back to the van there were several family parties going on in the car park itself (right beside our van!) even though there is lots of woodland and open areas by the lake to use).  We could also clearly see the marks on the road made by ‘donuts’ etc. so can see that the comments regarding boy racers are clearly accurate.

Would we return?

No – we moved on rather than staying an extra night
