Detail:
We stayed in April 2024
This was our final overnight stop on the N2, which we completed from South to North. We stayed for 2 nights, the 2nd much better than the first.
Authorised area in a large open car park without services.
Plenty of space, but would suggest staying on a Friday or Saturday night – the party and senseless screeching around the car park started at about 11pm, went on until after 4.30am and then again at 6am as they came back to their cars to go home.
Sunday night was a dream though!
What’s the site access like? Easy, go around the roundabout and follow the signs
How much is it? Free
Services?: No services
What’s the area like?:
We walked along the river and immediately found the remains of the roman healing baths (free to visit – toilets available)
We then came to the Roman bridge which we crossed and found the sign for the end/start of the N2 (km0)
We spotted the stepping stones. Calv banned me from having a go – boo..
The next day we walked up to the castle and a couple of churches. We also found a fort that has been turned into a hotel.
A Continente supermarket is within a 10 min walk.
Would we return?
Yes – just not on a Friday or Saturday night
