Questions:-  (This review is from the point of view of motorhomers driving a Swift Kontiki 669 tag axle – 8.56m)

What are the pitches like?

Good pitches.  Clear pitches, next to the electricity points.  This is a nice big field and fairly level.

(Note, there are also 8 4* Premier Cottages on site.  We didn’t experience any overlap issues, just the benefits of the indoor pool and washing machines!)

Is there water on each pitch?

No  – but the tap is easily accessible, with the CWD and rubbish bins at the beginning of the camping field

What is the electric like?

16A – excellent

Drainage?

No, but not an issue

What’s the site access like?

Good.  Clearly signed the site is at the end of Browns Lane (which is about 1/2 mile long).

What are the Sanitary facilities like?

Toilets:                              Good –  1 shower room exclusively for campers.  Plus another toilet and shower in the swimming pool changing rooms and 2 more toilets in the Playbarn.

Toilet paper provided? Yes, and plenty of spare provided.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Showers:                          Good, new and clean.  The 1 in the swimming pool changing room is a typical swimming pool shower, but perfectly adequate.

What other facilities are there?

Indoor heated swimming pool.

Washing machine – free to use.

Play Barn with pool table, table football, books, games and lots of information leaflets.

Chemical waste disposal.  Rubbish bins.  Very friendly owners.

Shop, post office, launderette and hairdressers about 2 miles away in Filby

Yes, in the playbarn

Very welcoming and friendly.

How much is it?

We paid £20 per night

What’s the area like?

Nice.  Lovely views from the site.  Lots of walks.  Lots of days out (look out for the following blog posts!)

Norwich

Cycling the Bure Valley railway

Greyhound racing in Great Yarmouth

Caister Castle

Beaches and walks near Mautby

Burgh Castle

More detail:

The Good:-

The owners.  The toilets.

The swimming pool and playbarn

Access to the washing machine

The Bad:-

Let’s call these the ‘not so good’ rather than ‘the bad’.  The information sheet is produced for both campers and cottage visitors (there are 8 cottages for hire here too), and says that the washing machines are for emergency use only.  As they are free this meant we felt almost guilty for using them!  We would rather have paid and taken away any guilt!  (I’m sure it was probably just us though 🙂 )

Being told they preferred to be paid cash, and not to worry that we didn’t have it there and then, and then being chased for it the next day….  (I much prefer to pay by card if possible..).  Also most sites we have stayed on, and paid cash, have been happy to be paid at the end of our stay, or weekly if we were staying longer.

 The Ugly:-

Nothing at all 😊

Moving On:

We are moving on to the North Norfolk coast, nr Sheringham
