Good for: Visiting Bitche.  The parking is in the shadow of the imposing town Citadel and there is also a ‘Peace Garden’ that you can visit https://www.facebook.com/CitadelleJardin

Address: Bitche, Moselle, Grand Est, France, 57230

Questions:- (This review is from the point of view of motorhomers driving a Bessacarr E769 tag axle – 8.56m)

Relevant Post:- Back in France

Detail:  Fantastic, welcoming little free aire with services.  5 dedicated motorhome spaces, with hedges separating the pitches but when taken dozens of vans park on the large grass area of the car park

Services include fresh water (a couple of euros); black and grey emptying; electricity for a couple of Euros, bins and toilets.

What’s the site access like? Easy – final run in up to the citadel is a fairly steep cobbled road

How much is it? Free

What’s the area like?:

The town looked nice enough, although we didn’t walk down to it.  We did park up and shop in the Lidl in the morning, and saw that there was a swimming pool 🙂

The Citadel is huge and can be visited for approx. 11E each.  We simply walked the perimeter and looked over the edge of the hill towards the Peace Gardens, which looked very quirky and fun 🙂

Moving on: Next stop was the outskirts of Verdun, France

Would we return?? Absolutely to the aire; it’s a lovely surprise to actually have hedged pitches 🙂
