Detail:

We stayed in April 2024

This was our return to the coast after an absence of 3 weeks!  And a very welcome return it was 🙂

This is a fairly new  dedicated area providing 11 generous sized official spaces (at the weekend there were vans parked on the grass area which was no problem at all) with services.  There is a service unit shared between each 2 pitches, including CWD and drainage.  There is electricity but this isn’t hooked up yet.  We couldn’t see any indication of any way to charge.

There is also a tennis/padel court available for use.

The lighthouse is still operational but the accommodation area is now a small hotel, with a taberna overlooking the sea – which was nice and cheap and very welcoming.

This sits on a coast path, and the road is quiet enough to cycle along.  It’s part of the Cycle Route 1 (the Atlantic Route) and follow the signs for roads off of the main road.  Be prepared for a couple of steep, but short, climbs – I lost my chain trying to change gear on 1 of them…

The sunsets and the sound of the surf were amazing.

What’s the site access like? Easy, although your SatNav might try to take you down a tiny road that is not wide enough at the bottom.  Follow the sign for the lighthouse (faro) to take you straight there.

How much is it? Free

Services?:   Full, excellent services

What’s the area like?:

As described above it is beautiful.  Plenty of walking and cycling available, or just sit on the beach – be prepared for a bit of a scramble over the rocks or take the path at the top of the boardwalk to use the larger rocks.

We had to cycle 15.5 miles, round trip, to the Eroski in Muros to find an open supermarket on Friday afternoon…  Cycling is very hilly.

Would we return?

Yes – we did!  We spent 3 nights here, then went to the campsite down the road for 1 night to do some washing, then we returned for another 2 nights 🙂
