Questions:- (This review is from the point of view of motorhomers driving a Bessacarr 769 tag axle – 8.56m)
What are the pitches like?
Perfect – nice and big with plenty of room for our outfit. Total pitches = 110
Grass pitches with a base of sand, so well draining. It’s rained most of the time since we arrived but we have no problems.
Is there water on each pitch?
No but drinking water stands available all around the site. Suggest filling up near reception before pitching up
What is the electric like?
Says 16A, but can’t be more than 10A – we tripped out 3 times, so be careful with electricity use 🙂
Drainage?
Yes – by the car park
What’s the site access like?
Excellent – if you’re arriving from the east you will need to continue up to the roundabout and come back in order to access the access road
What are the Sanitary facilities like?
Excellent facilities; heated, clean; the ladies includes a baby changing station and baby bath.
Toilets: 4 cubicles in both ladies and gents (+ urinals to gents)
Toilet paper provided? Yes
Showers: 4 showers in both. Plenty of space, hooks to hang clothes etc. Calv was perfectly happy with them
What other facilities are there?
Bins and CWD
Dishwashing area (and laundry sinks)
Washing machine and drier (7Euros and 4Euros respectively)
Play Area and football pitch. Trampoline
Reception (open from 3pm) with small shop – sells plenty of wine!
Bungalows and lodges for hire
Is there any internet; if so how much and how good?
Yes – free. Not a fantastic signal – but our own is fine
Very friendly, helpful lady in reception. She was happy to help me with my rusty French!
How much is it?
We paid 17Euro per night including electric – using the ACSI card, + 1.10Euro per night local tax
What’s the area like?
Lovely – About 4 miles from Tours (you can cycle there weather permitting – the cycle path runs past the campsite); 12 miles from Amboise in the other direction and about the same distance from Chateau de Chenonceoux (there are numerous other chateaux to visit!) Amboise is definitely worth a visit 🙂
