Detail:

We stayed in April 2024

Visiting Santiago de Compostela was on my list of places I wanted to visit.  We nearly didn’t make it, but changed our plans with the weather 🙂

This is a dedicated area at the end of a general car park.  Being a very popular spot, for obvious reasons, the aire itself is generally full (unless you’re very lucky and arrive as someone is leaving), but in that case park in the adjacent car park.  This is what we had to do and there were no issues (we certainly weren’t alone)

There is a Mercadona across the road – about a 3 minute walk.

The area is actually on the route of the Camino de Santiago 🙂

What’s the site access like? Easy, and signposted at the last minute (as they so often are)

How much is it? Free

Services?:   1 motorhome service point – often a queue.  A little short but overwise perfectly adequate.

What’s the area like?:

The immediate area is perfectly okay.  Plenty of bars and eateries within 5/10 mins and a Mercadona within a shopping centre.

The main draw is the fact that this is on the route of the Camino and if you carry on past the Mercadona (with it on your left) and cross the main road you are on the last off-road section with 7.75km to go.  So we walked into Santiago along this final section and got the bus back 🙂

The bus is a very long number.  Coming back catch it from the da Rosa (launderette).  Every 15 mins or so and, helpfully, it will say O Milladoiro on the front 🙂 1.55E each.

Would we return?

Yes – if we were in the area and wanting to re-visit Santiago de Compostela, absolutely.  Definitely would recommend.  Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the van in-situ 😦
