Day 13 – Sunday 12th June 2016. Relaxing.

As we did so little today I suggested that Calv write the blog. Here’s his contribution:-

“Sat in the sun. Did **** all. The end.” !!

We did indeed do very little but sit in the sun. He finally opened up his MMM magazine and I started a new book (Our Kind of Traitor – John le Carre. Very good so far) and only my 3rd on this trip – 2 weeks in I’d normally be on about my 7th book!!

We decided against going in the pool, as on close inspection it doesn’t look as clean as perhaps it should.

Does anyone know the name of the cloud formation that has a ring of rainbow round the edge? (We can’t get on the internet here; not even with our mobile data and the signal’s so weak we think it would be a waste of money paying for WiFi).

We did go out later in the afternoon; well early evening really, in search of a decent supermarket. We needed some proper milk. Yesterday we had to buy long-life from the Spar as there was none in the fridge, and, I’m not going to lie to you, it wasn’t the best.

We decided to turn right onto the main road towards Foix. It turns out that Foix is the next place with shops so we must have driven a good 15 miles in total to get milk. Oops – maybe should have turned left then!

Foix looks like a lovely place, with an impressive castle dominating. We had to drive right through though and start heading towards Toulouse before we found a Carrefour. It was open (at this point we remembered that it was 6.30pm on a Sunday evening..), and they had milk in the fridge. So our journey wasn’t wasted! We’ve resolved to find a big supermarket on our way to Perpignan tomorrow as we need more choice than these little ones are giving us – we’re even struggling to find chicken breasts! Hopefully we’ll manage to find one and get a big shop done. As tonight, whilst I made Calv a bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette, I had beans on toast with a poached egg.

However, last night’s toad in the hole with mash and veg was perfect. Debs, I’ve managed to perfect batter pudding in a gas oven – remember Centre Parcs all those years ago?!!

On the move again tomorrow – can’t say we’re too disappointed to leave this site.
