We were looking forward to going Kayaking today. Although we’d already decided where to hire our kayak, we’d also spotted another sign further down the beach on the way out of Agay (towards Antheon) about hiring Kayaks, paddles etc. so thought it a good plan to have a quick look at them too. It took us a while to find (the signs often give no warning; it just suddenly appears round a corner, and it’s right there – no time to anchor on the brakes and swerve into it!) We eventually found it again, and hiked down to the private beach and then back on ourselves to locate the actual spot – there weren’t many kayaks on display, couldn’t see any life-jackets or anybody to ask. I didn’t have a great feeling and we decided to head back to the 1st place – never mind, it all contributes towards my steps!
At the 1st place we hired 2 single kayaks for 9 euros each for an hour (although he let us have them for 2 hours for the same price). He told us where to head and off we went.
Now I’ve kayaked twice – once when I did an introductory course at Hilsea Lido (bought on Groupon), and the 2nd time, a couple of years ago, in our 2 seater kayak (with backrests) on the Hamble with Calv (the weather was never good enough when we were free last year..) I forgot to mention that we had another wander around the site last night (even though we now knew just how steep it is – it’s actually steeper the more you explore!) We were looking for the ranch that we’ve noticed on the site map – yay, perhaps I can go riding 🙂 Only we couldn’t find it 😦
We decided to go to Cannes today on the coast road (difficult to get lost when following the coast road so perfect for us then…)
The views are amazing – blue skies, sparkling azure seas, towering red cliffs and the railway running along by the road or directly over the sea, with it’s own viaducts or tunnels blasted through the mountains. Continue reading “Day 22, Tuesday 21st June – Cannes & Antibes”
We’ve travelled around quite a lot on this trip, and even when at a site we’ve been out and about most of the time. So we’re going to just have a couple of days of chilling.
Day 20 is Sunday. Having been disappointed on arriving at this site yesterday we woke to the sunshine this morning and had a little walk around. The public areas (pool, bar, shop) are actually really nice and we’re both feeling rather better. I think we’ve both decided to stop thinking about moving and stay where we are. The view’s beautiful too!
Although the menu in the restaurant doesn’t look too bad they only take cash (bit weird); as we have a special card which gives us the best exchange rate I prefer to use this anywhere where we might be spending a little more, except where you perhaps wouldn’t expect them to take cards. This means we won’t be trying the restaurant. We’re both a little bemused as to why they would have this policy in a place like this (it really isn’t small!)
